Parquetry Works - Germany (Prussia) - This Article: Charlottenburg Palace, Berlin

Kaizer's Place. Another place to consider is actual Germany and the former Prussia. This post focuses on Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin. Some palaces have beautiful parquetry works even if here we cannot find the intricacy of the Russian palaces.

St. Petersburg Russian Palaces - The Place of Exquisite Parquetry Works

If somebody wants to see a collection of fine parquet works one place to go (or view) is St. Petersburg and its palaces. The small to large compositions (the most expensive parquetry option) are available for visitors. Fortunately some of them do appreciate the floor beneath their feet and take pictures we all can share.

Late 1800's parquet border inlay installed with strip hardwood flooring

A parquet border inlay installed with strip (apparently Oak hardwood flooring) in a late 1800's house. The beauty of the patina visible. Back in the age when the parquet flooring was in fashion, when the good craftsmanship and taste in wood flooring was, probably, more constant than today. A source of inspiration.

Hardwood Floor Border Inlays

The hardwood floor borders can be found as built with round shapes. Difference from the geometrical shaped ones is that the design can be way more creative. As example the below image shows a Pavex Parquet hardwood floor border inlay belonging to the MARQUETERIA Collection. The presented border is installed with a brown color African hardwood which founds itself included in the middle of the design. Walls with a classic golden wallpaper.

Intricate Parquetry Composition - Cabinet des Miroirs, Château de Maisons-Laffitte, France 17th Century

France, 1630-1651, near Paris. The ”Château de Maisons-Laffitte” has been built by
René de Longueil and his wife Madeleine Boulenc de Crévecœur.
One room of this castle is interesting from our point of view: ”Cabinet des Miroirs”.
This particular round room has a splendid marquetry inlay composition worked in wood, pewter and ivory.
This marquetry work has been restored relative recently.

This image shows the work partially.
